Coll has sent us a video sharing one of the ways he likes to create abstract, yet related, sounds for the projects he works on. I’ll let the video speak for itslef. Enjoy!
Update: Coll has sent us some samples of the types of sounds he created. They’re embedded after the jump.

nice. that shaping parameter would probably be the grain envelope tho. looks like a sweet plugin
David says
it is a way sweet plugin! Wish AE would sell it as a standalone. It also has the ability to be played “live” on a track, as opposed to recording a chunk, which is way sweet.
also, Jan is right in that the shaping parameter is the grain envelope, not an EQ as stated in the video.

@David: when you want to use something like that standalone you might try this one:
http://hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/
It’s for free and I think it has even more options to play with than RiverRun

Totally right, that is the grain envelope… I never realized how hard it is to talk on camera and mess with plug-ins at the same time… Guess my career as an actor is short lived! I could probably have gotten super technical with what everything does but for me better to spark peoples interest and get them playing with something new. I will have the guys put up some of the files I was making…

Interesting sounds Coll.. I was wondering if you could refer me to any VST plugins which give similar results as RiverRun and as Andy mentioned PaulStretch. My work flow suffers when I need to leave the sequencer to make audio edits and I’d like something to edit “live” with in Cubase 5.
