Jamey Scott has created a fantastic 15min long video tutorial on stem workflow. He showcases several Pro Tools templates he uses on sound design and mixing, giving details of the tracks, Aux/FX routing, stem organization, groups, etc.

Thx for the info Jamey, it’s nice to see how you work.
As you said bouncing per group (SFX, dialog, Foley, …) seems to be a good way to keep sessions managable and CPU safe.
Would it be possible for you to give a bit more detail on how you build your routing for printing each category ?
You seem to have your sounds per category routed to an aux then to a master track where you split sounds in 5.1.. And at the end you remix all the categories in your mix session..
If there’s any chance to access a temp session for a category and a temp session for your mix, it would be awesome ! Thx for the video though.

It’s really good to get an insight into how other professionals work, especially when it comes to organisation and workflow. Its something I struggle a bit with, so this has been a great help to me!
Some template sessions to examine routing and mixing would be very interesting to look at.
