“And don’t spend your time lookin’ around
For something you want that can’t be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin’ about it
I’ll tell you something true
The bare necessities of life will come to you”
Minimalism may conjure up thoughts of Modern Art and lifestyle philosophies, but what does it mean to us in sound? With only 24 hours in the day, putting everything aside and re-evaluating your priorities is not only helpful — but healthy, too.
For July 2017, we want to talk about the bare necessities that inspire you. What field recording trips have you made with only the essentials you could carry? How does your workflow keep you focused while handling multiple projects? Does your studio welcome creativity and keep out distractions? How do you consciously improve yourself and lift up those around you, and what sacrifices have you made along the way? Let us know!
