This month you can leave your DAW, VSTs and AUs at the door because we’re going to be taking a look at hardware. From the beginnings of audio reproduction though to skeuomorphic plugin UI designs, hardware and its influence has always been present in our world.

So whether the word conjures up fear at the prospect of non-recallable settings on your modular, excitement at the thought of that “tone”, that “sound” you just can’t get from 1’s and 0’s, or dread as you look at your latest bank statement… come join us!

Want to join in the conversation? Comment below, ask a question in the Designing Sound Exchange, post to Facebook, or start up a conversation on Twitter!

Please email richard [at] this site to contribute an article for this month’s topic. And as always, please feel free to go “off-topic” if there’s something else you’re burning to share with the community.
