March is over, and you may have noticed that we’re returning to our usual mode of: “Here’s a theme. Here are a few articles on this theme. Do you want to contribute to the theme?” I think it’s important that we take a moment to talk about the community we have here.
First, any and all contributions from the community are ALWAYS welcomed here. We haven’t turned one down yet!
…and I mean that. It doesn’t necessarily mean we never will, but we’ve worked with everyone who’s come to us so far. Regardless of their experience, location or background, we made sure that those who wanted to share their perspective could. We’ve even helped a few refine their contributions, because we want everyone who contributes to the conversation to be received in the best possible way. Last month’s focus on women wasn’t meant to be a one time thing. We get contributions from women throughout the year, but…as you may have noticed…their voices are rather under-represented most of the time. We wanted a way to change that. Some were inspired to contribute because of it. You’ve seen several, and more have committed to contributing in the near future. That’s exactly what we hoped would happen, and it’s fantastic!
We want the conversations here in the community to be more diverse. While we do approach specific people to contribute on a topic, even our professional circles are a little limited. If we haven’t contacted you, it doesn’t mean that we don’t want to hear your perspective on a topic. Don’t let that be a barrier. If you’re interested in contributing contact us. It doesn’t matter who you are, or if the topic that concerns you fits into the monthly theme or not. Knowledge is ALWAYS worth sharing. This community is incredibly supportive, and those of us here on the site want to help your voice be heard.
Thanks to all of the people who have contributed over the years, and thank you to those who will in the future!
[…] As we recently reiterated, this site is by the community, for the community. We always encourage contributions from the community. It’s impossible to track down all of the potential stories and thoughts that might be out there. Please don’t wait for us to come to you. Whether it fits this month’s theme, next month’s (Failure) or is a topic unto its own…contact shaun [at] this website to get the ball rolling! […]
