This week was a triple-dose of released sound libraries for your aural pleasure.
First up is from TONSTURM:
With TONSTURM 08 I Morocco you get 61 Soundfiles in 5 Channel Surround Format. All the ambiences were recorded in Tangier, Essaouira and Marrakech, three very different Moroccan Cities.
For this surround ambience library we captured the beauty of the urban Arabic world of Morocco.
We visited three very different Moroccan cities, Marrakech, Essaouira and Tangier. These are all very colorful, lively and diverse cities, where we found a lot of unique places to capture these great surround ambiences. We captured sounds from the souks (markets), the medina (old town), the calls of muezzins, rooftop city ambiences and a lot more! Through some Maroccan relatives we were able to record at special locations where access is normally not possible.
We Recorded with a Double MS setup (Sennheiser MKH30, MKH8040, MKH8050) to be fast and flexible as the environment was very turbulent at times. We could easily change our position and were ready to start a recording within seconds to find the perfect spot and timeframe for each particular ambience.
Apart from beeing showered with old rotten fish blood everything went pretty well!
This library is well-suited for a wide number of different situations, as some of the sounds are more diffuse and could be used as general urban Arabic ambiences. In the old town where nearly no traffic is audible (except some mopeds from time to time) we were able to record some nice wallas and the bubbly hustle and bustle of the people.
We carefully encoded every ambience to a discret 5.0 channel file for convenience.

Remember the last time you needed fresh new whooshes for that super-stylized project you were working on? You sat down, you closed yourself off from the world, and you set out on a quest to design some awesome new whooshes. Four hours later, you looked up, realized that half the day had gone, and all you had done was make noise with nothing to show for your effort, other than strange looks from your cat. Time had run out, you still needed your whooshes, so you reached for that old sound effects CD. You know the one, it’s that disc that has the whoosh sound that all the informercials use.
Hey, we’ve all been there. We’re always needing whooshes, but who has the time to make them? Well, I’ve spent countelss hours over the last few months, cooking up some whooshes so that we all have something new to pull from. I have to say, that at times, it was pretty rough. If I played you some of the crap that I came up with early on, you’d run away and delete this email right now. I assure you, that stuff went straight to the trash.
In the end, I came up with 190 new whoosh sounds that I have to say are pretty damn good. And like all of my libraries, I’ve included multiple variations of each whoosh (190 total sounds). Everything was designed in 24 bit 96k stereo. As always, all files have descriptive filenames and full metadata. So why are you still reading this email? City Sounds – Munich contains 53 tracks with more than 100 minutes new, up-to-date recordings from Munich – recorded in the summer of 2011 in Stereo and genuine 5.1 Surround Sound. All of the recordings were produced and post-produced with state-of-the-art multi-channel equipment in High Definition 24Bit 96kHz quality.
