“Secrets for Great Film Sound” Webinar Report #1 – Pre-Production

January 25, 2011 by Miguel Isaza

I’m going to start publishing weekly reports about “Secret for Great Film Sound“, a new webinar series hosted by David Sonnenschein and Ric Viers.

Last week I assisted to the first webinar. It was fantastic! Ric and David talked a lot about pre-production process, including:

  • How to work with clients (Producers, directors, etc)
  • Budget and payments
  • Analyzing the script
  • Equipment needed
  • Networking and job finding suggestions

The whole session was really good. Both Ric and David have a lot of experience in the field, so apart of talking about the theory itself, he also shares a lot of experiences of previous projects, problems he has solved in his projects, suggestions for a lot of processes. Very informative.

The second half of the webinar was dedicated to answer questions of the attendees and also review the work of several of them. This part is always very enjoyable. Also, listening to the cretics and analysis of the material there, it’s very constructive for all the people attending to it.

Today is the second webinar of the series! I’ll be reporting about it in the next week.
