Yeah, really!
And most of all, our work has got to be “transparent”!
Yeah !!! A big Ben Burtt !!!
That’s kinda like saying “The most important thing you can do as a sound designer is the right thing.” Well, yeah. I’m always trying to do the right thing.
Not a very profound quote.
JPN, it’s not that simple. The quote for me is here just to remember us that sound designers are not just technicians. Every sound designer is an artist, who make creative and crucial decisions all the time.
It’s not simply “do the right thing”. It’s about remember the importance of a sound designer decision in each moment on the film. You can make a right sound but the moment is not the best for that sound, or you can put a sound in a great moment but it’s not the right sound, thus ruining your chance of making a good job.
Well, not a very profund quote in a philosophical way, but a very importance quote to remember what a sound designer has to think about.
