M.P.E.G has published an article with detailed information about the sound of Nimród Antal’s “Predators”.
Sequels pose major challenges for sound editors/designers and re-recording crews. How do you remain true to the franchise, yet offer a unique signature that characterizes the film’s emotional content? Fold into the equation a producer/writer who is known to work quickly and retain his creative opportunities until the last minute, and we might not need a crystal ball to predict the outcome.
But that producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimród Antal have wrangled the new production of Predators––due for release July 9 from 20th Century Fox––into a shape that will please old and new fans alike is attributed to the creativity of the post-production crew that worked on this landmark motion picture. “On virtually all of his films, Robert likes to be hands-on,” stresses re-recording mixer/dialogue editor Brad Engleking, who helmed the dubbing console with lead mixer Sergio Reyes at Rodriquez’s Austin-based Troublemaker Studios, and subsequently at Warner Bros. Dub 6 facility on the Burbank lot.

Carla Murray and Paula Fairfield both rock! I’m excited to hear what they’ve done with the new predators.
