Barnaby Smyth Records Foley for The Night Manager

September 11, 2018 by Braden Alexander

The British TV series The Night Manager follows an eponymous hotel night manager as he enters the worlds of the intelligence community and the international illegal arms trade. The series itself was nominated for 36 awards, including the 2016 Creative Emmy Awards for Outstanding Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.

In this video, foley artist Barnaby Smyth of Feet First Sound details his process for recording the crunch of the footsteps, the rustling of the cloth, and how he puts it all together.

The full video can be found here.
