Backstage.com: The Sound Design Of Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical

Backstage.com has recently published an extensive interview with Sound Designer Walter Trarbach and Foley Artist Mike Dobson about their work on the Tonyaward nominated musical Spongebob Squarepants.

Dobson and Trarbach managed to blur the line between cartoon and live action by incorporating Spongebob’s squeaky footsteps taken from the show and “found object” sound effects like dog toys and slide whistles with the percussion and more traditional sound elements that are found in theater.
