“What Is Sound Design…?” Symposium

October 13, 2013 by Joshua Kaplan

What is sound design...?

Designing Sound readers in the vicinity of Edinburgh, Scotland should take note of the University of Edinburgh’s first symposium on sound, coming up on November 27th, 28th, and 29th.

The event, titled “What is sound design…?,” aims to ask more questions than it answers, bringing together speakers from the domains of film sound, games, performance, forensics, social geography, industrial audio, location sound and experimental technologies. Each day will feature lectures, a panel discussion, a keynote speaker, and a concert.

Contributors include: Joe Banks, Jamie Bullock, Marco Donnarumma, Andy Farnell, David Hendy, Adam Linson, Philippa Lovatt, Garry Taylor, Simon Waters and Chris Watson. Recordings of each day will be released after the symposium.

There is no charge to attend the event, but advance registration is required. More information is available at the symposium’s website.
