With the approach of the 2018 Primetime Creative Emmy Awards, a look back at this detailed article provides may provide some context for the sound of the series, especially considering the nomination for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy/Drama Series (Joe Morrow, Lou Solakofski, and Sylvain Arseneault).

They wanted it to be an acoustically visceral experience for the audience. I’ve never had that come from such an executive level, that much knowledge of and enthusiasm for the power of sound. It was the coolest thing.
