Thanks for sharing this nice thought. I relate to this approach in a philosophical level. If it’s the case of a personal project such as a reel, I struggle not to get attached to a sound and avoid taking it criticism personally; however, in terms of a project whose purpose is to be delivered for a client, I try to focus on what does it need to stand on its own and tell the right story.

The way I see it, team members will always have different points of view and artistic approaches, and in the end it’s not a matter of who has the ‘right’ or ‘best’ interpretation, but how can everyone utilize their strengths to accurately represent the director’s ideas. It also comes down to figuring out effective ways to criticize your peer’s work without making it sound personal.
