Particularly valuable the concept and use of evolving- and emotional- backgrounds. Not pure “location-wise” ambiences. This wonderful movie is studded with that kind of sound flowing textures strictly related to music, foleys and effects.
I roughly estimated a ratio of far more than 50% of these mix-ins in relation to the whole duration of the movie, balancing with the sum of pure ambiences or silent cuts, also mentioned in the interview. Their backgrounds and tonals-drones build up with really dense-grain, it let me suppose a lot of creative re-recording and post work!
Thanks for the interview,
diz.

Great to hear Jeremy’s side of the process. The score for this film is incredible and the interesting use of bass frequencies in both the music and sound design hooked me right away.

Still haven’t seen Looper, but now it’s even more on my must-watch list. From description only, I like the idea of silencing backgrounds in moments crucial for the characters and/or the plot.
Sort of shaking the diegesis, I suppose.

Thanks again!
