Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, they are the Fathers of the soviet sci-fi literature. Tarkovsky’s “Stalker” (supposedly based on Strugatsky’s “Roadside Picnic”) has nothing common with the sourcebook.

We had the Gods but CPSU didn’t allow to film their masterpieces.

PS Don’t watch the modern screen version “The Inhabited Island” (2008). It’s a nonsense and a miserable odd job. There is no cinema in Russia anymore.
