I’ve never noticed the sound design in any game, but the first time I heard that shell shock effect, I was like holy sh*&^! the creaking buildings… the sh*t talking American medic.. everything is awesome!

anyways I love the bc2 sound! although I think the footsteps should be louder. also soldiers make a lot more noise than just footsteps when they run. having the body movement and gear clanging around would really help for localization of soldiers on the move.

the gunfire is very well localized, good job. oh and MBT’s main gun sounds way too weak :P

My dads been in Northern Ireland and the Falklands with the Royal Marines and the first thing he said when he saw me playing battlefield was how realistic the sound effects were. Great job everyone who worked on it!

But I’m having the same problem as Jack Thomson.
I’ve got a Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 headset, works perfectly with COD4: Modern Warfare, but with Bad Company 2, no sounds from my six… =/

I’ve played the Battlefield series since the first beta 1942 and it’s my favorite PC game ever. Bad Company 2 sound is AMAZING and is one of the things I talk about all the time. As far as 3D sound quality goes, when I play this game, it feels like I am in a movie theater, as the sound is all round me and pops, rumbles, and you can tell exactly where everyone is based on sound. The sound staging is amazing, and this is through HEADPHONES! I never knew you could get surround sound through headphones but this game is simply the best. Great job.

So for Jack Thomson, not sure what your setup is, but even with off the shelf headphones and on-board audio, I was getting really good 3D sound. When I bought my soundcard and headphones, that’s when I got the movie theater effect and my jaw literally dropped and I got chills from how damn good the sound was. I can’t really describe it but it was simply amazing.

These are links to my sound card and headphones that I bought specifically for the game. Like I said the sound was amazing before I got these, but with them it feels like you’re IN the game.
