I don’t know of any (consumer-priced) applications or plug-ins for playing surround audio from a computer. This is where Dolby should be concentrating, since we’ll all be watching movies on some sort of set-top PC in the future. If I want to watch a movie on my Mac right now, I need to drag a Dolby decoder into my studio? That’s the only way to get Dolby or DTS out of Apple’s DVD player.

Sure, there’s Minnitonka Diskwelder and Dolby’s TDM plug-in. What about a surround music player so that people can purchase surround music online? I’m shocked that neither Dolby nor DTS has this yet. Is there some solution I’ve missed?
